PORTAGE

Adult yoga

All classes are for beginners and intermediate learners. Bring a towel or mat to sit on, wear comfortable clothes and bring water. Classes are for 18 and older. Call for more information. The fee is $30 a month for one day a week, $35 a month for twice a week and $50 a month for unlimited attendance.

Steel Wheels BMX

The summer outdoor season continues through September. Practice from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays and 2 to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Racing takes place Thursdays and Saturdays. A new riders clinic is at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Preschool sign-ups

Spots still are open for fall Tuesday and Thursday classes. A nonrefundable registration fee of $20 is required at sign-up. Bring a copy of the child's birth certificate and parent's driver's license number. Fees for Tuesday to Thursday classes are $60 per month or $540 per year for residents and $65 per month or $585 per year for nonresidents. The child must be 3.

Bridge club

The Portage Duplicate Bridge Club meets Tuesdays at Woodland Park. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., and games start at 11. The cost is $6. For information, call Jim at (219) 477-6441.

Telescope viewing

Join Stargazer Sue on Sept. 24 in using the Meade Starfinder telescope at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore's Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk. Viewings will be canceled if there are clouds or there is poor weather. The program starts at dark and will last an hour.

Artists wanted

The Harvest Festival Juried Art Show is Oct. 8 and 9 at Woodland Park.Call the park office for application information.

Midweek Madness ATV

Meet other people interested in cycling and get advice from experienced riders to Wednesday 5:30 pm at the trailhead Outback Imagination Glen. It is free for all. There will not rise if the runway is wet.
