ALLENBY WARMS UP FOR PRESIDENT'S CUP

Golf: The countdown to the President's Cup is on, so it's good news that Aussie Robert Allenby seems to have hit form at the right time.

Allenby fired an eight-under-par round of 63 to lead by one stroke after the first round of the Asia Pacific Classic in Malaysia.

Allenby, 40, who was menaced by a monkey on the 10th hole at The Mines Resort & Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur when he was practising earlier in the week, was a stroke ahead of rookie Jhonattan Vegas.

"I started the day with some good early putts and hit the ball well today and overall I'm very happy with today's result," said Allenby, who had eight birdies and no bogeys.

"I've been playing well for a while but haven't put the scores on the board. Today was nice to get no bogeys for the round and eight under is a great score."

Corey Parker and Beau Scott have also been omitted from a seven-man interchange bench, with Sheens adding Keith Galloway  and David Shillington.

The Kangaroos had their final captain's training run at Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium overnight, and while Inglis, Parker and Scott were absent from the session. Sheens said Galloway and Shillington had been put on notice.

The coach expects the Kiwis to target Australia through the middle.

"The Kiwis love  to try and trouble our bigger guys out of dummy-half and I've spoken to both the boys about it," Sheens said.

"That's why  I included Beau and Corey on the extended bench. With GI, he's definitely fit enough but with his kind of injury, I just wanted to make  sure he's well and truly right to go.

"So we'll give  him another week and then play  him against  the English at Wembley."

Australia eye the country's first win over New Zealand in England since 2004 .
